St. Stephen's Sunday Suppers

SWEM Food Cupboard

St. Stephen’s has supported the SWEM Food Cupboard since its inception more than 20 years ago. The churches of the Southwest Ecumenical Mission (SWEM) have contributed food and money to assist people who run out of food. We supply food baskets to some 40 seniors on a regular monthly basis, an provide emergency food bags to people in the western part of the city who call the cupboard when in need. Many people donate food, time and money to the SWEM food cupboard. Monetary donations are used to buy foods that are in short supply, generally proteins.

SWEM Senior Basket Program

The SWEM (Southwest Ecumenical Mission) Senior Basket Program, begun some 20 years ago by 10 or 12 Southwest Churches, feeds 40 needy seniors in our area with a monthly food delivery from the SWEM Food Cupboard. The Cupboard is supplied by donations from area churches, who also supply the volunteer Friday packers and Saturday drivers who deliver the bags directly to the seniors' homes.
